How SmartTrack Works

Our Approach

Gather & Understand

We review evaluations, documentation, transcripts, and meet with the student to understand how they actually study.

Blueprint + Setup (45–60 min Zoom)

We present the SmartTrack Blueprint and Setup Kit, walking families through how the student's mind processes academic tasks and how to apply their Playbooks immediately.

Follow-Up (within 2 weeks)

We refine Playbooks based on real coursework so the student has a repeatable system they can apply in every subject.

Outcome

Students leave knowing how they learn — and how to use it effectively in every class.

Who's Behind SmartTrack

For more than twenty-five years, Dr. John Terrell has worked with high school and college students who learn differently—students who are bright, capable, and often misunderstood by traditional academic systems.

He's served as a professor, academic administrator, and disability-services consultant, helping students bridge the gap between evaluations and real classroom success.

Dr. Terrell developed the Applied Metacognition Method after seeing the same pattern: students received detailed evaluations and generous accommodations yet still struggled because no one had shown them how to learn using their own process.
